Henry Batty (Beatty) and Descendants
Henry Batty (Beatty) was born around 1833 somewhere in Ireland. According to the 1900 census he immigrated in 1858. Although one might think this immigration occurred in New York City, it did not. Henry came to Canada sometime before having children. He and his wife had 4 children born in Canada: George R., John (Henry), James H., and Westley. His other children were all born in New York: William, Elizabeth, and Emma. Henry can be found in the census records from 1870-1900 in Palmyra, Wayne County, New York. Henry was married to a woman named Eliza. Henry passed away in between the 1900 and the 1910 census in the year of 1907 at age 76. He is buried as Henry Battey in the Palmyra Village Cemetery alongside his wife Eliza (Barrs, according to Emma Beatty Drennan's death Certificate) who died in 1922. In the 1870 census there is a man John "Boice" living in the household with Henry and Elizabeth. He was born around 1809 in Ireland. I was thinking perhaps he was Elizabeth's father, and now that I have learned her possible maiden name I still believe this to be her father. Possibly the name Barse/Barce was misspelled in both the census and in Emma's death certificate.
Henry's Children
George R. Beatty
George R. Beatty was only located in the 1870 census with his father. He was born around 1860 somewhere in Canada. He was married between 1880 and 1892 to a Martha Gordon, daughter of James and Elizabeth. Together they had three children: Wallace J, George R. Jr, and William J.

John Beatty (Henry)
There isn't much to be told about John Beatty that isn't talked about in his obituary. He was born about 1862 in Canada, and came to the US sometime before the 1870 census. He and his siblings lived in Palmyra until he moved to Newark/Arcadia (1 town away). He married a woman named Helen (maiden name unknown). They had one child named Florence Verna who married Benjamin Bacon. Helen passed away before John in 1908. Florence who had lived with her father at the time of his death moved to Tonawanda with her husband by 1920. Her and her husband remained married until sometime after the 1930 census, they never had any children. In the 1940 census she is listed in North Tonawanda as a divorcee. Benjamin is listed with a new wife, almost half his age. There is an obituary for a Florence V. Bacon who was 72 in 1960...this could be John's daughter but this also is unconfirmed.

James H. Beatty
James H. Beatty was born in Canada, you can see his baptism here. He lived in Palmyra from 1870 until his death in 1934. He never married. He is buried in the Palmyra Cemetery.

Wesley Beatty
Wesley B. Beatty was also born in Canada. He lived with his father until the census of 1892 when he has relocated to Rochester, Monroe County, New York and is married to a woman named Jennie. Wesley and Jennie do not have any children together in any of the census'. They seemed to live most of their married life at that West High Terrace address. Wesley's death can be verified to the left of this write up, he died on May 2, 1934.

William H. Beatty
William H. Beatty was the first of the children to be born in New York. He lived with his father until the 1900 census, when he can be located in the state of Washington. In 1901, as seen to the left of this article, William was married to Jennie S. Cattoo (daughter of Mrs. Jane Cattoo). In the census records Jennie goes by the name Jane (possibly because of Wesley's wife Jennie...but I am unsure). Wesley and Jennie (Jane) had the following children": Donald; Alice; James. Both William and his wife were still living in the 1940 census. There is a death record for a William H. Beatty who seems to be the correct one, but the parents names are written as William Beatty and Eliza Davis which does not seem to fit. His death date is recorded as November 4, 1944.

Elizabeth Beatty
Elizabeth Beatty was born about 1871 in Palmyra. She lived with her parents until they died. She was married, in between the 1892 census and the year 1898 when her daughter Arlene was born. She was never listed with her husband in the census, but through newspapers we can learn that his name was Robert. In the 1900 census Arlene's father is documented as being born in Michigan, but there does not seem to be a Robert Clayton that matches this description. Elizabeth was listed as married in the census' up to the 1920 census when it says widowed. Elizabeth died in 1945, but I have been unable to find an obituary for her.
Emma Beatty
Emma Beatty was born around 1874 in Palmyra. She was married in 1902 according to the newspaper article to the left. In 1910 she can be found in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan with her husband William W. R. Drennan. Emma and William had two children: Leona and Henry B. Emma died in February of 1924. It seems that Henry may have enlisted in war after his mother's passing, and possibly is found in Orange County in the 1930 census. I cannot confirm that this is the same Henry but it seems likely, given the place and date of birth. If the Henry's are the same then it is with much regret that I say Henry was killed in action in France. His memorial can be found here. I do not know what happened to Leona or William after Emma's death.
