Louise M. Burnham Bowden
Louise M. Burnham was born on August 26, 1830 in Vermont, the daughter of Guy Carleton Burnham and Mehitable Hull. We first can find Louise (Louisa?) in the 1850 census living with her parents in Angelica, Allegany County, New York. She had a lot of siblings, they are: Elizabeth H.; Carrisana; Maria A.; Sarah C.; Arabella; Guy C.; and Sophia J. Sometime before 1870 Louise M. married Thomas Bowden. They can be found in the 1870 census living in Jersey City, New Jersey with their two daughters, Louise and Jennie (aka Sarah). By 1880 Louise is widowed and living in Binghamton, Broome County, New York as a dressmaker. Some people have on their family trees that Louise married first a Howard Henry MacArthur. I find no evidence of this, but this does not mean that it is not true.
Parents
Guy Carleton Burnham was born November 3, 1791. He was the son of Captain Amos Burnham and Susannah Hierlihy. He had many siblings: William; Timothy; George; James; Charles; and Hiram. Guy Carleton Burnham died on May 9, 1876.

The children they had together were: Caroline C.; Benjamin F.; Thomas J.; Harriet M.; Susannah H.; Elizabeth H.; Corissan A.; Louise M.; Susannah I.; and Maria A..

Siblings
Caroline C. Burnham was born on July 2, 1817. On December 13, 1836 she was married to Elisha Porter. He passed away before 1850, they had the following children: Leonard G. (died in war); Leonard H.; and Charles S. .Caroline died in 1893. Her obituary is included in the documents below. I did find Caroline and her oldest child Caroline in the Albany, Albany County, New York census of 1850 living with the Lufland? family. I notice in the 1850 census of her father, there is a Leonard and Leona Graves (the right ages to be Leonard G, and Leonard H.) also a Charles S. Graves the right age to be Charles S. Porter. The 1870 census Caroline can be found in New York City with a house full of family members
Benjamin Burnham died at birth, so did Thomas J.. Harriet lived to be 23 years old. Susannah H. lived to be only 2 1/2 years old.
Elizabeth H. Burnham, daughter of Guy Carleton Burnham and Mehitable was married in the 1880 census to George Huse. They were living in Black Creek, Outagamie, Wisconsin. They had the following children in 1880: Henry P.; Franklin; Julia A.; and Sariah L.; and a roomer, William Little (his older brother, married their daughter, Sariah.).
Corrisan A. Burnham was married around 1852 to Delorus Durrell Phillips. They can be found in the 1860 census of Angelica with children: Guy B.; Charles; and Louise. Delorus died in 1869, Corrisanna in 1877. It seems as though Corrisan and Delorus had a few more children between 1860 and when Delorus died: Wendell; and Carrie (1869). Corrisan can be found in the 1870 census of NYC living with her sister, Mrs. Caroline Porter and other family members.
Maria A. married John Robinson sometime prior to 1864 when their daughter, Kitty M. was born. I have found them in the following census': 1880 - Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; 1900 - Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Maria died before the 1910 census when John and daughter Kitty (Catherine) were living in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.

Half-Siblings
Sarah Olivia Burnham was born about 1838, the daughter of Guy Carleton Burnham and Betsey Averill. She can be found living in Mrs. Caroline Porter's house in New York City in the 1870 census, 1 year before she was married. In 1871, George Forward and Sarah were married.
Arabella L. Burnham was born about 1840. By 1870 she was living in Prophetstown, Whiteside County, Illinois living with her husband, William Forward (brother of George Forward), and children: Edith; Rudy; and Minnie. Also living in the house was Arabella's mom, Betsy Burnham. In the 1880 census Minnie's name is Louise, there are some new children: Joseph; Walter; and May. Arabella died in 1894. William followed shortly after, passing away in 1912.
Sophia Burnham was born about 1848. In 1883 she was living in Massachusetts and married Samuel Butterfield. I found them in the 1900 census living in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. By 1910 Sophia is living in Norwood, Norfolk County, Massachusetts and she is widowed.

Married Life
Louise Burnham supposedly was first married to a man named Howard Henry McArthur. I do not know where this man lived, have any dates on him or anything. What I do know is that by 1870 she married a man named Thomas Bowden who disappeared from Jersey City in 1873. Thomas Bowden is a man of mystery. I find no records of him any time before or after his marriage to Louise Burnham. Some family members have Thomas Boden's Death date as March 20, 1874. I have found nothing to confirm this but he does stop being in the directories in 1873, so that timing does fit.
Children
As far as I can tell Louise and "Henry Harry McArthur" had no children. If they did have children most likely the children did not live to be ten years old. Louise and Thomas, however had two daughters: Jennie and Louise. Louise was born on April 13, 1861. Jennie was born on June 16, 1863. They both say that they were born in New York so I would assume this is New York City, but they could have moved to New Jersey after the kids were born.
Louise Mehitable Bowden was in the 1870 census of Jersey City, New Jersey with her parents. She can next be found in the 1880 census of Pulaski, Oswego County, New York census married to John Bentley. In 1892 Louise and John are living in Richland, Oswego County, New York. In 1900 Louise, John, and their three children: Jenny, John, and Thomas are living in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. John Joel Bentley died in 1901. In 1910 Louise is living with her mother in Syracuse. In the 1920 census Louise is married to Paul Burkhardt and they are living in Syracuse. His first wife, Augusta had died in 1904. Louise Bowden Bentley Burkhardt died on November 10, 1929.
Sarah Jennie (Jane) Bowden was in the 1870 census with her parents in Jersey City, New Jersey. She can be found in 1880 with her husband, John Wiser (Jennie is listed as age 16 in this census) they are living in Binghamton, Broome County, New York. By 1900 John and Jennie (in this census Sarah) have moved to Arcadia, Wayne County, New York. Five out of the six children she had had are listed with them, they are: Louise, Jennie (probably why she is now going by Sarah); Charlotte; Frank; and Marion. Also living with them in this census is Sarah's mother, Louise Bowden. In the 1915 census of Arcadia, Louisa Bowden is still living with them in Arcadia, but she was not listed in the 1910 census as she was living in Syracuse with Louise Bentley. In the 1920 census John and Sarah are still living in Arcadia. In 1925 John Wiser passed away. In 1930 Sarah is living in San Diego, San Diego, California with her daughter, Marion Wiser Tingley. In 1932 Sarah died and is buried with her husband and daughter, Bertha in Binghamton.
