John Barker
John Barker can easily be found in every census from 1900-1925 in Wayne County, New York. Prior to this he can be found in Potter County, Pennsylvania with his parents, Theodorus Barker and Alice Monroe Barker. He and a brother, George, both moved to Wayne County. We learn this in the announcement of them travelling to their mother's funeral (she passed away on Christmas Eve morning).
John Barker married Gertrude Mattison. They had two children: Alice (named after John's mother), and Howard. John Barker was named after his Grandfather.
I have been unable to track down who Gertrude's parents are, although a family tree online claims that John W. and Theresa J. Mattison who lived in Chatham, Tioga County, Pennsylvania in 1880 are her parents (this also agree's with the newspaper article below). In 1900 Gertrude and John are married living with a Mrs. F. W. Mattison and her daughter, Mary. At first glance I took this to be Gertrude's mother, but it turns out Frances is John's Aunt, sister of Theodorus Barker and had married to a Rev. W. G. Mattison most likely in Pennsylvania.
