John A. Aiken was born around 1839. In 1895 he was appointed to help the Postmaster, Michael Chadwick. He was struck by a train in 1912, ultimately ending his life.
He was born in Arcadia the son of William Burr (possibly Burt) and Mary Aiken. He was a boatman in the 1870 census, and by 1892 he was married to a woman named Almira. He had a son named Robert around 1892 (according to the 1905 New York State Census).
